How can foreign judgements be enforced in Austria?

Enforcement of a foreign judgement requires confirmation of enforcability, which will be granted by local District Court (Bezirksgericht), if the judgement is enforcable in its own jurisdiction and receprocity in regard to enforcement of Austrian judgements is secured by international agreement or ministerial order.
The foreign judgement must not violate Austria’s public policy and it has to be prooved, that the motion, initiating the proceedings in the foreign country had been served to defendant personally and he had been given the opportunity to take part in these proceedings.
