Competition (Finland): Finnish Competition Authority closes investigation into suspected restriction of competition in the market for taxi services in Hyrynsalmi

The Finnish Competition Authority (“FCA”) has closed its investigation into a suspected restriction of competition between the taxi service providers in Hyrynsalmi, a municipality in North-Eastern Finland. The investigation was initiated as a result of a complaint lodged by a local taxi driver, claiming that the taxi service providers who are partners of Hyrynsalmen taksiasema (the Hyrynsalmi taxi stand) had restricted his access to become a partner of Hyrynsalmen taksiasema and thus prevented him from receiving taxi orders from potential customers. The FCA closed the investigation as it concluded that competition in the market for Hyrynsalmi taxi services can be considered effective as a whole.
