The Finnish Competition Authority (“FCA”) has closed its investigation into the suspected abuse of dominant position by Yleisradio Oy (“YLE”), the national public service broadcasting company in Finland. The investigation was initiated as a result of a complaint lodged by Suomen Elokuvatuottajien Keskusliitto ry (“SEK”), the central organization of Finnish film producers, claiming that YLE has abused its dominant position by imposing unreasonable contractual terms on independent film producers. The FCA decided to close the investigation as it found no indication of a breach of competition rules during the initial investigation and the insignificant nature of the suspected infringement did not support further investigation into the matter.
