Merger control: Commission approves proposed merger between Kenwood and JVC

The Commission has cleared the proposed merger between Kenwood Corporation (“Kenwood”) and Victor Company of Japan (“JVC”), both of Japan. Kenwood is active globally in the market for electronics equipment and provides, in particular, car electronics, home electronics and communication equipment. JVC is active globally in the research, development, manufacturing and sale of electronic products and accessories, including audio, visual, computer-related electronics and software, and media products. The Commission concluded that the proposed transaction will not create or strengthen such a dominant market position that would significantly impede effective competition in the EEA or in any substantial part thereof.
